Summer Baseball Tournament Schedule

The tournament schedule for summer baseball has been updated.  Check out the schedules for summer tournaments on the left side of the home page.  SABA will release the summer league schedule sometime in mid-April.  A tentative breakdown would be Varsity and Rookie games being played on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with JV and Freshman games set for Mondays and Thursdays.

A link to the SABA schedule will be provided when it is set.

Admission to be Charged to Games

Beginning this spring, all Springfield schools will be charging a gate fee for admission to baseball games.  The district will provide the workers who will collect $3 for high school and older and $2 for grades K-8.  Gate passes will work the same as with other sports.

If you bought a $50 pass at the beginning of the year, that will work for spring sports.  Passes for students grade K-8 are available for purchase at either Cherokee or Carver Middle Schools.  Passes are $5 but are only good at Kickapoo, not any other Springfield high school.  It will only be cost effective to purchase a student pass.

Parents who have signed up to work the game will not have to pay admission.

Fundraiser for Stephanie Phillips UPDATE

Instead of charging a gate fee for the Red and Blue Classic, Springfield Public Schools has agreed to collect donations to go to the Stephanie Phillips Foundation.  All four sites will be collecting funds for Coach Phillips.  $2000 was donated during the tournament!

Scot, Steph, Drew, & LeviCoach Phillips has been battling colon cancer for the past few years.  She has been able to continue her teaching and coaching duties while enduring intense chemotherapy and radiation treaments.  This has become increasingly difficult as the treatment process continues.

If you would like to make a donation to the Stephanie Phillips Foundation you may do so at www.stephsgonnawin.com.

Stephanie is pictured at left with her husband, Scot, and her boys, Drew (6) and Levi (3).

Work Days Set

Two work days are set for the upcoming season.  The first is scheduled on Saturday, February 13 and the next is one week later, February 20.  The fun begins a 10:00 each day.

The responsibility for maintaining and improving our facility falls mainly on our booster club members (parents) and players.  Among the many things to get done are two big jobs: putting up the batting cage nets and rolling down the windscreens. There are many other things that need to happen so we will need all the help we can get.  A list of activites and tools/equipment needed will be sent out via email as we near February.

Saturday, February 27 is a back up date in case we can't get on the field either of the other dates.
